Aquarium

Life forms and
environments
trapped behind
glass and on
display for
those to watch
the hidden world
of the water
and learn.
We are
part of their
world,
a world so different,
yet similar
to ours.
Yet I wonder
if maybe
we're the ones
on display while
these creatures
watch us
closely,
trying to figure out
who we
are.

Deep Sea Creatures

Wolf Eel Larvae

Habitat

Sea stars
Sea Otters
These were taken at the Vancouver Aquarium, and amazing place full of creatures and environments from different parts of the world. Aquariums always fascinated me, as it's like we're inside their world, where sea stars crawl across the ocean floor, jellyfish float gracefully, and the way of life is different.

On The Fast Lane

My life feels
like it's on the
fast lane,
always pressured
to go,
to not stop and
catch my breath
as I try
to stop the
work from
overwhelming me.

Assignments fly
past and
tests are marked,
as I try to juggle
my school
and outside life,
one ball dropped and
my world will just
collapse.

Stress has become
so familiar
that I hardly remember
what it's like
without it,
and maybe I just
need to shift gears
and
slow
down.

I hate this time of year. Little hints of the end of the school year come and go, my dance showing is in a couple of weeks, the homework pile is just getting larger, I still have my physiotherapy and neurotherapy I have to do every day, I'm trying to write a story, and the rainy weather outside just does not help my mood. I'm tired, I'm stressed, and maybe I just need to get out of the fast lane for awhile.

For The Birds

Birds remind me
of people:
flocking together
when their feathers
are alike,
yet each and every
plumage and
personality is
unique.

But they don't go
creating trouble they
know they can
go without,
or take what they
don't need.

Maybe our world
really is for the
birds;
they're definitely better
than some humans.

I went to the Reifel Bird Sanctuary, where there are fascinatingly different species living there than in Toronto. I fed a lot of the birds there, and probably about 80% were some sort of waterfowl (ducks, coots, geese, grebes, etc.) When I was watching their behaviour, they really did remind me of people... but considering how some people treat the world, maybe the birds are much better behaved, don't you think?

Blossom Trees

Trees heavily
laden blossoms
line the walkways
and parks,
showering petals
that fall
lightly to the
ground
and start to
decay;
the beauty of life
lying on the
stone.

The flowers were all blooming in Vancouver, which is a nice break from the weather at home, where only a few things have come out. These were all taken near my grandparents' place... enjoy!

New World

The city grows smaller
as gravity shifts
and pins me
to the seat;
peering out the window
I see the
city fade behind
the clouds.

Buildings and
streets reduced to
a size that makes
the world seem so fragile;
it seems we can
destroy a whole town with
just the slightest touch.

Soon we're in
the sky,
flying off
to someplace different,
sun beating down,
clouds beneath me
and endless blue enveloping the
plane.

Cold glass meets
my fingers as I
peer out into
the new world around me.

Flying is quite the experience, even if you have done it several times. It's just the thought of being in the air and being someplace that looks eons away from the ground is such a change of perspective.
It was just over 5 hour plane flight to Vancouver and about 4 hour plane flight back.

Traveling

The thrill of
traveling again
sits heavy on
the suitcase I'm supposed
to fill,
staring at me
while I check my list
and pile clothes
on top of books
and knickknacks.

I'm leaving to go to Vancouver tomorrow morning (have to wake up at 6:00 a.m to catch the plane) so I won't blogging for the next 6 days. I'll have plenty to write about when I get back!

Faraway

From faraway
everything looks
perfect,
untouched,
and it's not until
you come down
from that
place beyond
reality
that you find the
cracks and
imperfections
staining the
illusion.

Listening to a song called "Such Great Heights" and one part is, "Everything looks perfect from faraway, come down now, but we'll stay." How true.

Imperfection

Beauty is always
in the imperfection,
for if everyone
and everything
was perfect and
the same,
there would be
nothing to
live for.

Fog

The fog envelops
the sleeping city
in a cool, moist
blanket,
blurring and
changing the
synthetic lights
around me.

Another one of those, "I'm so glad I brought my camera!" moment.

I Must Say...

I feel so
fortunate to be
blessed with
friends and
loved ones
who are so kind,
always care and
support me.

Thank you,
from the bottom of my
heart.

Fly Free

It's time to
ignore the comments
that used to
wound me
in the heart,
free myself
from the
birdcage of  society
and just let myself
fly.

I'm doing the practice presentation tomorrow before going class-to-class. I think saying I'm scared is an understatement, but it's time to show the world our message.

Giving Back

Writing my heart
down on the
blogosphere,
I close my eyes
and smile
as the feelings
and the wonders
of the day
are released
into the world
around me,
giving back what
I took.

My 100th post! I would like to thank my fabulous core teacher, Mrs. G for giving me this suggestion to spread my writing to others worldwide using this blog, as well as my family and friends who have checked this blog. I"m so happy to have hit this landmark, and I hope to continue writing on here for years to come!
What
am
I
going
to
write?

Fools

Laughing at jokes
together,
as we realize that
all of us,
or perhaps none of us
are the fools
today.

Happy April Fools Day!
