Graduation

Farewell hugs and
shining smiles on
the faces of
friends we're
saying goodbye to,
wishing we just had
a little more time
to spend
together.

We came in together
and depart as
individuals,
bittersweet moments
of laughter and
tears
as we leave
yet another period
of our long
long
life.

"As we go on, we remember
All the times we had together
And as our lives change, from whatever
We will still be, friends forever."
-Vitamin C (Graduation Song)

I graduated from my amazing school last night... I'm gonna miss all my friends going to different schools, the teachers who really helped us, and how tight knit our school was. Special shout-out to Kasia, Patty (I know both of you will read this), Maha, Gabby, Rafe, Sab, Joakim, Emma, Shayla, Taylor and so many more! You guys are the best. I truly hope as Vitamin C says that "we will still be friends forever".

The Sticky Web

Lies build
and build upon
each other until
you,
the creator,
are stuck in the
middle of a
sticky web--
trapped.

Today

I peered inside
my soul today,
seeing several things.
My experiences and
epiphanies,
my sorrow
and joy.
I looked into
a mirror today
and saw
everything in my
heart and soul
reflected upon
myself.
---------------------------
We are nothing more
than the sum of our
soul and
heart.

Blood and Irony

Predator becomes
prey as water turns
red with blood
and irony,
sharks writhing and
drowning in the realm
they should've lived
longer in.

Living fossils from millions of
years ago are
rendered powerless
and fin less within
a few years,
on the verge
of their extinction.

"Cruel killing machines" are
being destroyed by
the cruelest creatures
of all:
humans.

I was looking through my posts when I realized I haven't posted on this subject yet! I'm on this awesome art forum called "Deviantart" where people can post up art of all kinds and comment on others. One of my favourite artists put up this beautiful (but slightly gory) piece of art she did. The title and poem is inspired by her artwork. Check it out and read the description. You'll be shocked:

Random Non-poem Post

Hi people! This is actually my first non poem post I've put up... :)
Anyways, sorry for not posting anything lately, I've been busy with the end of the school year (just had an exam last week and this morning) and I've been somewhat uninspired by anything new. But I got one of my workbooks back in core and it has a lot of poems I didn't post up in it, so I'll be using that for the next little while.
Thanks for those of you sticking around since the beginning, and those new visitors out there!

p.s Happy Belated Father's Day!

Bravery

Sometimes,
bravery is not
about going out
to do something frightening
or different
or strange,
but taking the
worst of things
and making the best
out of it.

This is the most inspiring blog I've ever read. This girl Alice has become an internet sensation, but I'm not surprised, as she's incredibly brave and wonderful. Check it out!

Perception of Time

In the
moment,
time
feels like an eternity
of waiting,
of watching,
of living.

Yet when we
think about the
days and
weeks and months
that have past
in almost a
flash,
time seems like a
blur;
as if two days were the
same as two years,
as if things have started
and ended so soon.

But it is not time that
has changed
every moment,
as it trundles on
second by second,
day by day,
but our perception of
time.

It's amazing how fast 2 years can feel. I don't feel 2 years older, or that it's 2011, or that I'm going to high school next year (eep!). The school year is almost over, and I'm graduating from my amazing school at the end of the month. Everything is creeping nearer, and w don't quite appreciate it until we get there. As Miral said, "Our school years is coming close to an end. Our memories will stay with us. We had a great time and everything is coming closer."

The Flock

A sudden noise
and the
flock takes
off into the
air,
swirling and
diving together,
uncannily mimicking
each other and changing
leadership without
a moment of
hesitation;
a continuous flow,
as if
they were of one mind
and body
instead of
several,
single beings.

A Splash Of Chalky Colour

Evening light shines
between the wires;
the sun warming up
the slowly cooling air
as bugs and birds
fly and crawl quickly
back home
before night falls
and other creatures
reign
the cement and
trees.
We crouch on
our hands and knees,
chalk dust covering
our fingers
and the surrounding grass,
creating a
splash of colour on
the monotonous, grey
cement
as we spend
the dwindling sunlight
together.

I was drawing with chalk with my brother, which was a lot of fun. I've always liked chalk, as they give me a zen feeling of enjoying my temporary artwork. I was in a photographic mood, so I took some photos of our artwork on the curbs and the twilight. My personal favourite is the one on the very top. Enjoy the nice weather while we have it!

Remembering The Good

Sometimes we are
so wrapped up
in a small pessimistic
world that we
focus on the
good-bye,
the bitter parting
that we forget
to thanks
the things and
wonderful experiences
that made this
farewell so hard
to do.

My favourite bookstore "The Flying Dragon" is closing at the end of the month, and I'm sad. But reading the sign they put up, they placed a little quote from A.A Milne (the author of Winnie the Pooh) that cheered me up (and inspired this poem) "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying good bye so hard." I really like that quote, as it shows you that we shouldn't dwell on the bad but realize and thank the good. With graduation coming up, I think the quote also fits in quite well with the bittersweet moment of leaving my middle school and going to high school.

Drum Beat

Feeling the rhythm through
our feet,
vibrations inching up
our bodies as we
listen
to the cymbals,
snare and beat,
and the bass drum
thumps start
replacing our own
heartbeat.
Sticks bouncing
and flying from part to
part,
the drummer moves not
only their hands and
feet but
their whole body is
possessed by the
groove,
and they're soon just
dancing to their
own drum
beat.

My brother takes drum lessons every Wednesday, and tonight was his end of semester performance/ showcase. There were other performers too, and I find that drumming is the most interesting and engaging as it can vary so much as well as having the beat of the drum almost replicate our own heartbeat.
