Countdown

Our time
is almost up
as the hourglass
carries on,
waiting for someone or
something to stop
and reverse the
flow of
consequences
from our foolish
actions.
Our world and
lives are at
stake,
we're placing them
on a bet that
someone will
change,
pick up the hourglass,
and stop the countdown
before it's too
late.

Another art piece inspired poem, and by the same artist too. Once again, the following link and title belong to her: http://yuumei.deviantart.com/gallery/?q=Countdown#/d3lllcp
This poem, as well as the picture reminds us that we only have a certain amount of time before we create chaos here on Earth because of global warming and other consequences of our foolhardiness. With time constantly ticking by, will we be able to make it?

The Singer

The lights dimmed,
hiding her eyes in shadows
as she grips the
microphone in
one hand and
sings,
making others' words
and songs and
emotions
hers
letting it
take her away and
transport the
enraptured listeners
to another
world.

Sorry I haven't been posting lately! Summer heat and laziness must be getting to me. Last night, we went to a restaurant where our family friends' daughter performs every month or so. Anyways, I want to dedicate this to Emily and the Bluecallers (you guys are amazing!), and my two friends who are both awesome singers, Gabby and Emma.
If you haven't noticed, there's a new page on this blog! On that page, you can put up things you think would be a good topic for me to write about. It could be a photo, a website, an article, whatever! I'll definitely credit you for the idea. Thanks!

Summer In The City

Smog mingles
in the humid
hot air,
afternoon sun fading into
the white night
and artificial light.
Countless people
walking along these
streets,
a thousand strangers
all with
different lives,
all breathing in
the life
ever present
when it's
summer in
the city.

Waiting

Sometimes,
I wonder if
we're just sitting,
staying still,
waiting passively for
something to
come to us,
to happen to us,
for that one moment of
perfection,
that we forget
about
going,
living and
trying to find
what we were
waiting for.

Untitled 1

Squabbling and
screaming,
fluttering and
flying,
chirping and
chasing,
little feathery
blurs of
activity.

With the birds' nesting season, the bird activity has increased a lot! We have several pairs of goldfinches, house finches, sparrows, starlings and grackles in our backyard trying to find nesting material and getting a desirable spot on the feeders. It's actually quite fascinating to watch them defend their territories and live a life that's quite different from ours....
