Waterlily and bud

The waterlilies

rise out of the humble mud,

exposing their petals to the

light.

Black water and

green leaves 

contrast in a swirl of shades.

And yet, the blooms will not

last forever,

and all that is beautiful

must eventually return 

to their origins.
